1. About this policy
Edinburgh Data Technology operates Shoogle the Sheep, an Android game intended for players of all ages. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you use the game, sign in, participate in leaderboards, view advertisements, purchase an ad-free upgrade or contact us.
2. Information we process
Account and sign-in information. Players can sign in using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. Edinburgh Data Technology operates its own account backend; we do not use Firebase Authentication. We process the account identifiers and authentication information needed to recognise your account and maintain a secure session. Depending on what the sign-in provider makes available, this may include an email address, including an Apple private relay address, and profile information. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
Scores and game results. Our backend stores scores and results associated with your account. Some results are private; others appear on public leaderboards. Account-linked scores and results can be personal data even if they contain no name or email address.
Advertising information. The game uses Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process technical information such as IP addresses, device information, advertising identifiers where permitted, and advertising interactions. This can occur without a separate analytics SDK being installed.
Purchase information. Google Play handles payment for the optional one-time ad-removal upgrade. We may process purchase status, purchase tokens or entitlement information to enable and restore the upgrade. We do not receive full payment-card details.
Support correspondence. If you contact us, we process the information you provide to respond to your enquiry.
3. Purposes and lawful bases
We process account and game information to provide sign-in, save results and operate the game's features, including leaderboards. Where UK GDPR applies, this is generally necessary to provide the service you request (performance of a contract). We process purchase-entitlement information to provide the purchased ad-free feature (performance of a contract). We handle support requests and protect our systems against misuse on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a reliable, secure service, except where another lawful basis applies. We retain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations. Advertising-related processing uses consent where required by applicable privacy law; some essential security and fraud-prevention processing may rely on other applicable grounds.
4. Private results and public leaderboards
Your game account can hold private scores and results. Shoogle the Sheep also has public leaderboards, where other players can see scores, results, rankings and the player identifier displayed with an entry. Please avoid using personally identifying information in any public-facing player identifier.
Public leaderboard entries are associated with an account while that account exists. If you request account deletion, we will remove or de-identify account-linked leaderboard information as part of processing that request, except where lawful retention is required. De-identification means removing the connection to your account and any information that can reasonably identify you.
5. Advertising and the ad-free upgrade
Shoogle the Sheep is free to download and displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Google's privacy information is available at Google Privacy Policy.
Where required, the game requests and respects choices about advertising-related data processing. Because the game is intended for all ages, advertising to children and users whose age is unknown is subject to additional safeguards, including restrictions on personalised advertising and relevant identifiers under applicable Google Play Families requirements.
You can purchase a one-time ad-free upgrade using Google Play Billing. The upgrade removes in-game advertisements; it does not remove processing needed for account operation, security or purchase verification.
6. Analytics
We do not use a dedicated analytics SDK or intentionally collect separate behavioural analytics. Services used for advertising, authentication, payments and hosting may still process technical or operational information for their own functions.
7. Who can receive information
Information may be processed by Google (Google Sign-In, AdMob and Google Play Billing), Apple (Sign in with Apple), and service providers that host or support our own backend. Limited leaderboard information is visible to other players as described above. We may disclose information where required by law. We do not sell account information or game scores directly to data brokers.
Third-party providers may process information under their own privacy notices and contractual terms. See Google's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
8. Children's privacy
Shoogle the Sheep is intended for all ages, including children. We aim to minimise data collection and apply age-appropriate safeguards to account features, public leaderboards and advertising. Where required, we seek appropriate consent and restrict advertising practices for children and users of unknown age. Parents and guardians can contact us about a child's information or request its deletion using the contact details below.
9. Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect account information and game data. Account-linked information is generally retained while the account is active and is deleted or de-identified when the account is deleted, subject to lawful exceptions. Some purchase, security or legal records may be kept for the period needed to meet the relevant obligation or resolve an issue. Server logs and backups may follow separate operational retention cycles and are removed according to those cycles.
10. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your Shoogle the Sheep account by emailing [email protected] with the subject Shoogle the Sheep — Account Deletion Request. We may need to verify account ownership before completing the request.
Account deletion covers your account record, associated sign-in identifiers, private scores and results, and account-linked public leaderboard information, subject to lawful retention exceptions. Deleting your Shoogle the Sheep account does not delete your Google or Apple account and does not automatically refund purchases made through Google Play.
See Delete Your Shoogle the Sheep Account for instructions.
11. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent where relevant. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights. UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
12. International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, we use appropriate legal transfer arrangements.
13. Updates and contact
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version will be available on our website, with an updated date.
